RE:WILDING US
- a story about returning home RE:WILDING US is the working title for a coming documentary aimed at building engagement for the Rewilding movement, letting nature heal itself by leaving it alone, while also strengthening local economies in a sustainable way. Various Rewilding actors have already set aside millions of acres, giving space back for wildlife to return on land and in seas. A mass recovery of ecosystems and the life-supporting function they provide, boosting biodiversity and dealing with climate change as a consequence. Much needed as two thirds of the earth’s wildlife has disappeared during the past 50 years. "But it can bounce back in a decade", if we just let it.
Spanning over two continents, Latin America and Europe, the documentary will show how the relationship with nature influences the craftsmanship of people nested in the Rewilding movement, be it a local food producer, chef, volunteer, artist, celebrity, manager, diplomat, policymaker or investor. RE:WILDING US is a story about returning home, viewing humans as part of the wild; "one species among many, bound together in an intricate web of life that ties us to the atmosphere, the weather, the tide, the soils, the freshwater, the oceans, and all living creatures on the planet." Embracing the idea of non-duality, rewilding nature is also rewilding us, stepping back and letting nature/mind settle on its own, reconnecting where links are broken. Helping us become whole again. RE:WILDING US is built around a number of stand-alone episodes, each one showing an inspiring example of Rewilding, and can be used independently to promote a cause or organisation. The collection of episodes is edited to fit the documentary's larger story to be shown at selected events, serving as a campfire where we gather and share stories. //Short film.
