From award-winning documentary filmmaker Carl Eneroth at Sthlm Social Innovation Lab comes “Beyond the Mirror”. A glimpse behind the scenes of Dopplers, one of Denmark´s most innovative vocal ensembles, as they perform four impressive songs at Aarhus Vocal Festival, looking beyond the mirror to also include others. I am because we are. Ubuntu. “Beyond the Mirror” is an exploration into what vocal performance can be, using concert design to innovate traditional concerts. Based on the notion that an audience mirrors emotionally what happens on stage, Led by conductor Astrid Vang-Pedersen, Dopplers borrow from different genres like storytelling, choreographies and audience participation, to create unique and magical vocal worlds, adding to a bigger narrative such as social unity, activism for Ecocide Law, the Creation and Nordic seasons. Vocal performances that allow for group members to showcase their specific skills, backed by the others, and reach out to a wider audience. The result is a fascinating image of how to navigate an ever-changing world, being open to all our senses in the Now, looking beyond the mirror and realising that: "We are part of everything and everything is a part of us", as presented in one of Dopplers performances.
