Eywa and her Dance Rebellion

Watch full movie ( 25 min)

EYWA AND HER DANCE REBELLION is an explosive, intimate and good humored portrait of Dancehall Queen and activist Karolina Carlsson, as she seeks new expressions for her activism: fighting to restore the balance between Humans and Earth… Humans and Animals… Men and Women. Inspired by indigenous people's credo of safe-guarding all life on Earth and the Jamaican dance form Female Dancehall or Queen-style, Karolina's persona melts into her artist name Eywa, the life-force that runs through all living creatures and protects the balance in life, picked up from the film Avatar (2009) by James Cameron. The short documentary produced by Carl Eneroth featuring Karolina's own dance videos is both an in-your-face dance temptation and an inspiring portrait of a female warrior who challenges status quo with empathy and non-violence as her sword and shield. What we get is another kind of rebel.
