"Reconnecting Chile" is a film by Carl Eneroth about revitalizing cities, using public spaces in streets and parks to rebuild trust. Follow Javier Vergara and friends as they move around the city of Santiago de Chile and show their vision. From award-winning filmmaker Carl Eneroth (“Images of Hope", "All the Way”) comes Sthlm Social Innovation Lab’s documentary RECONNECTING CHILE, an upbeat, solutions oriented and mind-shifting portrait of Chile’s struggle to rebuild trust among its citizens. In 2011 a staggering 88% did not trust strangers, alf of the Chileans never ever met up with their next-door neighbours. Seeing this, a group of young architects started Ciudad Emergente, transforming public spaces to revitalise cities and bridge inequalities all over Latin America, using simple tactics easy to scale like a neighbourhood street potluck, challenging the idea that streets are only for cars. And idea that brought together over 10 000 people in 2017. RECONNECT CHILE is both a let's-get-the-party-started documentary and a humble intention to rebuild trust in order to tackle societal challenges. Citizens need to retake the initiative with non-violent methods, turning themselves into changemakers rather than passive beneficiaries of benefits. As we follow the executive director Javier Vergara on bicycle around the city of Santiago, and climb the adjacent mountain park with Jennifer Lenhart, Global Lead WWF cities, it becomes evident that we all can contribute. Come and join the friendly revolution. Say hi to your neighbour. Learn more: Ciudad Emergente Watch full movie (21 min) |
